In Memoriam
Margaret Rose O'Brien, 84, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. Born January 14, 1941 in County Cork, Ireland, Margaret came to Boston at the age of twenty-two and built a life full of faith, family, and fierce loyalty to the people she loved.
A devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Margaret volunteered at the parish food pantry for fifteen years and never missed a Sunday Mass in her adult life. She was known for her soda bread, her sharp wit, and a laugh that could fill a room. She moved to Lady Lake in 2009 to be closer to her daughter and spent her final years in the warmth of Florida's sun, though she never fully stopped calling Cork "home."
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Patrick) Murphy of Lady Lake; her son Brian O'Brien of Boston; four grandchildren; and two sisters still living in County Cork, Ireland, who watched her service live from across the Atlantic.
